Indocyanine Green has six hours of stability when reconstituted as detailed in the package insert. Diagnostic Green has no additional stability data beyond that.
IC-Green® (indocyanine green for injection) is an optical imaging agent indicated for:
- Fluorescence imaging of vessels (micro- and macro-vasculature), blood flow and tissue perfusion before, during and after vascular, gastrointestinal, organ transplant, plastic, micro- and reconstructive surgeries, including general minimally invasive surgical procedures, in adults and pediatric patients aged 1 month and older
- Fluorescence imaging of extrahepatic biliary ducts in adults and pediatric patients aged 12 years and older
- Fluorescence imaging of lymph nodes and lymphatic vessels during lymphatic mapping in adults with cervical and uterine cancer
- Ophthalmic angiography in adults and pediatric patients
IC Green® Injection (ICG) contains up to 5% sodium iodide.
Allergic reactions have been reported in patients with and without a history of allergy to iodides.
It is known that in very rare cases (<1/10,000), Indocyanine Green (ICG) can cause nausea and anaphylactic reactions.
With normal liver function, the plasma half-life of ICG is 3-4 minutes. Measurements can therefore be repeated after 15-20 minutes.
After injection, Indocyanine Green (ICG) fluorescence can be visualized in less than one minute.
Indicator-Dilution Studies.
Under sterile conditions, the IC-Green® Injection (ICG) powder should be dissolved with the Sterile Water provided and the solution used within 6 hours after it is prepared.
For visualization of vessels, blood flow and tissue perfusion (2.5mg/mL solution)
- 1.25 mg to 5 mg by intravenous injection is recommended for a surgical procedure in adults and pediatric patients aged 1 month and older.
- 3.75 mg to 10 mg by intravenous injection is recommended for visualization of perfusion in extremities through the skin for plastic, micro-and reconstructive surgeries in adults.
- Additional doses may be administered. Do not exceed a total dose of 2 mg/kg.
For visualization of extrahepatic biliary ducts in adults and pediatric patients aged 12 years and older (2.5 mg/mL solution)
- 2.5 mg by intravenous injection at least 45 minutes prior to surgery.
- Additional doses may be administered. Do not exceed a total dose of 2 mg/kg.
For lymphatic mapping and cervical and uterine cancer in adults (1.25 mg/mL solution)
- 5 mg interstitially as four 1 mL injections.
For ophthalmic angiography
- Doses up to 40 mg in 2 mL injections.
The dosage depends on the intended application and the weight of the patient. For details, please see the instructions for use at

No. IC-Green® (indocyanine green for injection) is a sterile product which is injected intravenously or interstitially. This medicinal product is for single use only.
After injection, Indocyanine Green (ICG) binds rapidly to plasma proteins, of which beta-apolipoprotein B is the principle carrier (95%). It is removed entirely through the liver and then eliminated through the bile. IC-Green® (indocyanine green for injection) is not metabolized or broken down.
Indocyanine Green for Injection (ICG) is approved for intravenous injection via an injection needle, a central or peripheral catheter or cardiac catheter and also interstitially for lymphatic mapping.
IC-Green® Injection (ICG) is a tricarbocyanine dye, is indicated:
- Fluorescence imaging of vessels (micro- and macro-vasculature), blood flow and tissue perfusion before, during and after vascular, gastrointestinal, organ transplant, plastic, micro- and reconstructive surgeries, including generally minimally invasive surgical procedures, in adults and pediatric patients aged 1 month and older
- Fluorescence imaging of extrahepatic biliary ducts in adults and pediatric patients aged 12 years and older
